At the end of June, we as a ministry experienced a “death of a vision.” We need to connect with another Christian team that can help us design and build the India campus. Due to Tech Serve’s previous commitments and other information that they shared with us, they are unable to help us at this time. We want to go to India during the last two weeks of December, 2006 or early January, 2007. This time frame is critical for two reasons: it does not rain in Andhra Pradesh (where GEM is building) from November to March; it is winter in India at this time and thus the daily Fahrenheit temperature is in the high 60’s and 70’s.
I have contacted a Christian brother in Indiana, who personally knows Joseph Murala, founder of GEM, who is currently praying about the commitment of helping us build in India. He is a contractor and has various Christian contacts who are skilled in building the India campus. He has other commitments and of course wants to have God’s leading in the decision. If the good Lord leads him to help us, it will be under a similar arrangement as we had with Tech Serve. A team will be formed to volunteer their time to build the campus in India. Each person who goes on the team will finance his or her travel, housing, and food expenses. The responsibility of GEM is to pay for all of the construction costs.
I have another organization that can be approached if the Indiana team is also unable to help us at this time. The Southern Baptist Conference sends teams to other parts of the world to help Christian ministries. This is our next place of enquiry, if needed.
Please pray that the Lord will raise the correct work team to go to India at the end of December, 2006 or at the beginning of January, 2007.
Please pray that the Lord will increase our financial support base so that we have all of the funds to build the entire campus at one time while the team is in India.
Please pray that we can buy a used vehicle in India in the near future. We desperately need one for transporting the widows, orphans, staff, and the work team that will go to India.
Please pray to see if God wants you to go and help build the India campus. We can easily find manual laborers in India. However, we need skilled men and/or women who can do masonry, carpentry, plumbing, sewage concerns, electricity, fine tuning of a well for our water use, and basic construction with cement block and stuccoing the outside of the buildings.
Please pray that the entire campus can be built in two to three weeks. We are only able to currently help four orphans and two widows because we do not have the campus on which to house them. We desire to care for 50 female orphans, 50 male orphans, 30 widows on an annual basis and training them to support themselves in an honorable manner, and a seminary for up to 60 men and women who will plant churches in India.
Pray that the funding for GEM will always come, when needed, to support this amount of people in India.
Due to the length of this up-date, you will need to patiently wait until August to enjoy the next testimony of one of our orphans. May God continue to bless each of you who are a part of the GEM team.
Desiring that Jesus Christ will work in and through the GEM board of directors,
