This month we are pleased to share the testimony of Vijay, one of GEM’s orphan boys. This testimony was translated by Abraham Sudheer Murala.

Testimony of Vijay Kumar:
Dear Sponsors! My name is Vijay Kumar, I am studying 4th standard. I want to share a few words of my testimony with you. I was born in Karnataka State. In my family we are 6 members (including my father). I am the 4th one and I have a younger sister. A few years ago, I lost my mother. My father asked me to work in the fields, but I wanted to go to school. In our village we have a church, and I used to go very often. My father is not a Christian; moreover he is a drunkard with many bad habits.

One day the church pastor talked to my father and he took me to Bangalore and admitted me in the GEM children’s home. There really I could know more about Jesus! I was very happy because I started to go to school. GEM found that I am very talented in drawing arts, and it encouraged me a lot. So I decided to become an artist in the future. I always praise God for fulfilling my desire through GEM.

When Ravi and I came to Andhra Pradesh State to continue our studies, we had to learn a different language. I thought I could not continue my studies in Andhra Pradesh. In that situation, GEM really encouraged me a lot, and I took it as a challenge. I depend upon Jesus and by His grace I was class leader and I got first rank in my class!

In the month of August, one night I suddenly had a severe stomachache and vomiting. I was so worried and I thought I could never see my family again. During that time, every one (students, staff, “mom and dad”) in GEM children home was praying for me. I had a high temperature. After one hour, I was taken to the hospital, and I was praying for my healing. Miraculously after one hour I slept. When I woke up, my stomachache was gone and after four hours I was completely healed. I praise God for His mercy and love to me. I love every one in the GEM children home, and I really feel that it is my home. I learned many good things from GEM children home. Please pray for my future goals and me as I am praying for you all everyday. Once again, I thank you all for your kindness, love, prayers, and support.

What a wonderful testimony of God’s working in Vijay’s life! It is tremendous that Vijay personally knows our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! God is obviously blessing these boys.
For your clarification, there are three kinds of orphans in India and in other parts of the world.
1. An orphan is one who has no mother or father or any relative who can support him or her.
2. An orphan is one who has no mother or father, but has relatives who cannot support him or her.
3. An orphan is one who has only one parent but the parent is unable to support the child.
GEM cares for any of these three types of orphans. The overseas GEM staff prays and screens the candidates that we help spiritually and physically.

“You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way and they cry out to Me, I will surely hear their cry, My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows and your children [shall be] fatherless” (Exodus 22:22-24).

Thank you for your ongoing support to GEM through your prayers and financial gifts. Please tell your friends about GEM. Until next month, may God wonderfully bless you and yours.
