This month we are pleased to share the testimony of Ravi, one of GEM’s orphan boys. This testimony was translated by Abraham Sudheer Murala.

Testimony of Ravi

“Dear Sponsors! I am Ravi Kumar, studying 2nd Standard. I want to share few words of testimony with you. I was born in Karnataka state. I lost my father at the age of three. By the time my younger sister was four months old, my mother could not take care of me well, because she has to work and take care of my younger sister. So, I used to spend my time by just roaming in my village and playing with other friends. I knew nothing about Jesus.

“One day my mother took me to Bangalore and admitted me in GEM children home. That evening a new pair of dress and a new pair of sandals were given to me. I was really sooooo happy. I could not sleep that night because in my life it is first time wearing those new things. Next morning I joined in a school and I was very happy. I learned many songs and Bible verses, and I also learned many stories from the Bible in GEM home. From that time I began to love and trust Jesus and I began to pray to Him. Mostly I pray for my family, especially my mother and younger sister. I learned how to pray in GEM home. I had very good time in GEM children home.

“Later I was told that I have to study in Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) state. After a few days, I went to A.P. There I felt very strange because the language is different. I was taken to school, there the school head master asked me some questions, and I could not answer them. So he told to Dad Joseph that he would put me again in 1st standard. Then I heard it and I began to pray that he would give me seat in 2nd standard. Again he changed his mind and said –“Ok, I will give him seat for 2nd standard, and we test him for two weeks if he can not performs well, then we need to put him in 1st standard.” I heard this, I was so happy, and I began pray and to learn Telugu language and the lessons in the class. After two weeks they asked me to continue in 2nd standard. I realized that God is so faithful to me and answering my prayers. My ambition is to become a pastor and serve the Lord in the future. God is blessing me through you. I need your prayers and I am always praying for you all. Once again I thank you all for your prayers and support.”

What an exciting testimony! It brings tears to my eyes and warms my soul and spirit. I know that this testimony does the same for you. God has wonderfully allowed GEM to have a part in seeing Ravi come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ravi has suffered in life, as all of us have, but now he has Jesus Christ to lean on for the rest of his life. God is spiritually and physically prospering Ravi, the other orphans, the widows, and the workers of GEM.

“Submit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you…assign your [gold] nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines. Then the Almighty will be your gold, [and] the choicest silver for you” (Job 22:21, 24-25). “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed His steps; I have kept to His way without turning aside. I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread” (Job 23:10-12).

Each one of us is in danger of being entirely preoccupied with material things and miss the spiritual prosperity that God has for each of us. If we allow God to be spiritual gold and silver for us on a daily basis, we will be wealthy indeed! Yes, God allows us to be tested, just as He allowed Job, millennia ago, to go through severe testing. If we follow Him closely, stay with Him, and value His words more than anything else, we will never fail in His eyes.

We are preparing to build a campus in India to be able to care for many more orphans and widows so that God may spiritually feed and clothe each individual under GEM’s care. Please ask God to remind you to pray for the widows, orphans, and workers in GEM so that God’s work may positively move forward.

Desiring that Jesus Christ work in and through us,
