After years of ministering to thousands of people and spreading the Lord's message, I am now touching the lives of one orphan and widow at a time through GEM and giving them a chance for a future. Won't you join me in this ministry?
"I hail from the remote village of Surampudi in Andhra Pradesh, India, where I was born June 24, 1949. My parents were converted from Hinduism to Christianity shortly before I was born as their fourth child. Consequently, they named me Joseph and brought me up in good Christian discipline. My mother died when I was six and my father faithfully provided for us."
As a child and adolescent, Joseph loved his good Christian lifestyle, but during the later years of high school, he backslid and became very worldly. He was attracted to Hinduism and firmly believed every Indian should be a Hindu. He cherished this belief with great zeal.
After completing his pre-university courses in April, 1968, Joseph attended a Christian meeting to listen to the Bible in hopes of finding fault with preachers and Christianity. He falsely believed that he was righteous until the preacher declared that, "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags..." (Isaiah 64:6). The Spirit of God convicted him and he began confessing his sins aloud in prayer. Joseph accepted Jesus as his Savior and was later baptized.
After his conversion, Joseph began to pray constantly about his future. In time, he felt the Lord calling him to serve Him full-time. So, in June 1970, Joseph enrolled in Hindustan Bible Institute (HBI), an interdenominational seminary in Madras, to equip himself for the ministry. After graduating in March 1974, he became a pastor of a Baptist church for three-and-a-half years. From 1977 to 1985, Joseph was a professor at HBI, the same seminary he had previously attended. Then the Lord guided him to study for a Master of Theology in California from 1985 to 1986.
Joseph's return from California opened many doors of opportunity and he was blessed to be the principal of two Bible colleges in Andhra Pradesh and to plant and pastor several churches. God has also used him widely as an evangelist. Furthermore, God blessed Joseph's two sons by calling them to offer their lives in service to Him, and they will join Joseph soon in his ministry when their seminary training is completed.
Joseph has been married since 1971 to Lalitha, who he met while in seminary. They raised four daughters and two sons.
